Mission for the website

This web site is being developed to bring to the attention of the wider world life in the Terai or Madhesh region of Nepal.

When thinking of Nepal most foreigners associate the country with the Himalayas and the high peaks but there is another large area of the country that rarely gets visited by tourists this is the Terai or Madhesh. This is a fertile land which runs across the length of Nepal and is fed by the rivers which rise in the Himalayas, it is home to much of the countries agriculture and is populated by farmers, small holders and labourers.

The Terai region has poor social, health and civic society structures, development and aid to Nepal does not reach to these communities and in consequence there is very little chance of improvement for these people. Teraien people experience racism within Nepal and are under represented in all of the government institutions. Tourists are discouraged from visiting the region and this lack of access to the outside world holds back the regions development.

This web site is the first part of a strategy to open up the Terai region to the world, encourage tourism to the region and to develop a charity to assist with rural development in the region including; health care, education, sustainable livelihood development and agricultural development.

Note: this website also collects published and non published materials for general purposes only. Please contact us if you found it has been used for anything else.
