Welcome to Nepal Village Foundation (NVF) website. NVF is a London based small grassroots organisation. We work very closely with Dalit and poorest of the poor in rural villages of Nepal. We work with them to improve their wellbeing by enabling access to education and learning. We will strengthen villages to enable change to happen in an enduring way so they can determine their own futures and make good use of the resources available to them.
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in south East Asia where more than half of the population live under the poverty line. In the rural parts of Nepal average life expectancy is about 56 years for men and 54 years for women. Nepal is only country in the world where women die before men. More than seventy five percent of rural women are illiterate and girls are unmotivated to go school for various reasons, such as cultural traditions and economical. Consequences of a large illiterate female population withheld many developments in the country, such as social and economical.
Therefore, Nepal Village Foundation is currently focusing on educating girls in rural villages of Nepal to improve the female literacy along with empowering women, improving health, sanitation and supporting farmers to grow better and more diverse crops.
